New Technology Platform Unlocks Three Decoupled SRTs and Improves Settling

We’ve combined three of our process intensification (PI) technologies to create a profound innovation in wastewater treatment. In a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Pennsylvania, we installed our WWW™ miGRATE, WWW™ inDENSE™ and WWW™ AVN® technologies. Each of them are respectively successful technologies, but merging them into one platform has unlocked a synergistic relationship with major operational benefits including a third decoupled solids retention time (SRT) and drastically improved settling.

This new technology platform is a game changer — doubling the capacity of the Pennsylvania plant with minimal capital investment and engineering requirements. We believe that many WWTP’s will adopt this platform to take advantage of the improved sludge volume index (SVI) characteristics and three decoupled SRTs.

The first SRT occurs in the suspended mixed liquor with suspension times ranging from two to three days. The second, fixed-film SRT ranges from 80 to 120 days. The third SRT for densified activated sludge is around 60 days. All three technologies are key to enabling this unique performance.

Watch our video showcasing the settling rates. And stay tuned for more details in our upcoming technical paper.
